On the 15th & 16th of June 2021, a digital edition of the  Stockholm Criminology Symposium will take place;  Work from the researchers of the Flemish Peace Institute will be featured in no less then five presentations.

On Tuesday June 15 at 15.00h, Diederik Cops will be presenting the results of his research into what drives people to (aspire to) legally acquire  firearms. Read more

On Wednesday June 16 at 12.00 h, Quitterie de Labbey will address the research gap on the misuse
of diverted firearms, presenting results from project DIVERT  , reviewing the various contexts in which diverted firearms have been misused and pointing out future research avenues. Read more. 

On Wednesday June 16 at 10:00h, our director Nils Duquet, will present a comparative analysis (based on the project TARGET research) of the linkages between gun violence and illicit firearms trafficking in Europe.  Read more.

Also on Wednesday, at 11:00h, Nils will be chairing and participating in a discussion about “Targeting gun violence and illicit firearms trafficking in Europe.”

Finally, at 13:45,  Nils will be presenting the results of his analysis of the acquisition patterns of the guns used in public mass shootings in Europe between 2009 and 2018. Read more.
