Nils Duquet takes part as a speaker in the session “Security: From Fear to Freedom” at Forward Fest.

The goal of this session is to critically rethink the concept of security. Today, “security” dominates the political discourse: policy choices, budgets, and alliances are increasingly built around it. But what does this mean for citizens and civil society? Should we follow this dominant narrative? Can it connect and mobilize efforts in the fight against the climate crisis, social inequality, or the shrinking of civic space? Or does “security” risk being reduced to fear, exclusion, and further militarization?

The session will be conducted in English.
