11 November Lecture 2025 with Alicja Gescinska

During the seventeenth 11 November Lecture of the Flemish Peace Institute, Alicja Gescinska placed “Unjust Peace” at the centre of her talk.

A war does not begin with weapons, but with words. Killing begins with words. That is why language is the canary in the coal mine; when public discourse shifts toward systematic hate speech, bloodshed is no longer far away.

There is another fear we must name: the fear that people will stop believing in peace. That they will resign themselves to the logic of unrestrained power and violence.
