Front 14-18. The Experience of Battle in WWI and the Fascist Culture of Violence in Post-War Germany

Publication date: 20/03/2018

In his contribution Maarten Van Alstein examines the impact of the experience of battle in WWI on the development of a fascist culture of violence in post-war Germany. He explains how, in the context of a conquered and internally torn Germany, the war experiences of intellectuals and ordinary soldiers served as a catalyst for a fascist culture.
