Firearms acquisition and the terrorism-criminality nexus’, in T. Renard (red.), Counterterrorism in Belgium: Key challenges and policy options

In his contribution Duquet explores the deadly connection between terrorism and illicit firearms acquisition, starting from the fact that the Paris and Brussels attackers bought their assault rifles in Belgium via pre-existing criminal ties. After describing the illicit firearms market in Belgium, Duquet reviews some of the recent attempts to curb this problem at the national and European levels and argues that more needs to be done in this field.
