PROGRAM

Author Stefan Hertmans writes novels, collections of short stories, essays, theatre texts and poetry. Since the publication of his novel Space (1981), he has become one of the most influential literary voices in the Low Countries. His most recent novels – Oorlog en terpentijn (War and Turpentine), De bekeerlinge (The Convert) and De opgang (The Rise) – all based on historical sources, inimitably portray themes such as violence, war and collaboration. In his most recent work Verschuivingen (2022), a political-philosophical essay, he identifies evolutions we “feel every day without being able to interpret them”.

His captivating narrative will be supported musically  by Mirek Coutigny.
